Plans for the development of Piccadilly Riverside were approved by City of York Council in December 2017. The scheme provides for a 140 bed hotel along with eight residential apartments fronting the river Foss set within a landscaped garden. The scheme is situated at 46-50 Piccadilly, the site of the former Polar Ford garage which is now an NCP car park and Infinity Motorcycles accessory shop, in the heart of York city centre. This site has been owned by key figures at Northminster since 1978 and the proposed development will be a catalyst for the long anticipated regeneration of Piccadilly and historic castle area.
Piccadilly Riverside has been designed by COG Architecture, Leeds, and will be constructed of high quality materials using traditional brick and glass, with construction work anticipated to start in 2018 following receipt of planning permission.
This site has now been sold.
